SciComm & Outreach
In the Blanco-Suárez lab, we are committed to bringing scientific knowledge to the public and promote diversity in STEM fields through community building and various outreach activities. Through writing, public lectures, and student engagement at high schools and middle schools - in both English and Spanish - we aim to foster a strong relationship between scientists and society, and making science accessible to everyone.
Stories of Women in Neuroscience (WiN)
Our lab collaborates with this initiative that aims to raise women visibility in the Neurosciences. We help translating the interviews to Spanish.
Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective
The Blanco-Suárez lab collaborates with this network to cultivate STEM equity, access and inclusion in STEM career pathways for Philadelphia students who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM occupations.
Career Advice and Science Blogging
Hosted in Medium, find blog posts about the academic job market, science communication and outreach, and a wide range of neuroscience topics (from exorcisms to brain infections) for the non-scientist audience.
Gijón con Ciencia
Our lab participates in this science outreach program in Asturias (Spain) that organizes Conversaciones con Científicos (Conversations with Scientists). Scientists from Asturias, who are all over the world, talk to local high school students in a virtual setting.
